Antimicrobial solutions

Both acute and chronic wounds are vulnerable to germs. That makes products that can be used to treat infected wounds or even prevent infection in the first place of especially great importance. Freudenberg offers solutions both with and without integrated antimicrobial agents.

Self-adherent foam dressings

Freudenberg’s silicone coated foams enable manufacturers to reduce the number of steps in their processes, which reduces waste, saves energy, and simplifies the supply chain. Compared to conventional foam dressings, Freudenberg’s foam also offers higher flexibility for optimal wound bed contouring and reduces the risk of infection by preventing exudate pooling. Freudenberg is presenting three new prototypes for silicone coated wound dressings: one without an adhesive border (Non-Bordered Dressing), one with a silicone adhesive border (Border Lite dressing), and one with increased absorption and retention (Border Extra Dressing). The products with highly adhesive silicone along the edge also enable longer wear time while at the same time ensuring minimal adherence to new skin that forms at the wound edges.

Elastic superabsorbent

Flexible wound dressings increase the comfort level for patients as well as enabling longer wear time. Freudenberg applies a new technique in its elastic superabsorbents without perforating or slitting the material. This ensures highly consistent elastic properties over time. This Freudenberg technology also integrates the superabsorbent fibres better into the material, boosting the integrity of this layer within the wound dressing.
